However, fractional resurfacing has sparked much controversy, he says. Topics of debate include whether melasma truly is treatable; whether fractional resurfacing devices, indeed, are safe in all skin types; and whether claims that a particular fractional device delivers facelift-like results exaggerate reality (they do, Dr. Narurkar says).
